Explore LEGO Robotics all day!  Campers will use the LEGO Mindstorm products to take LEGO building and coding to the next level, under the guidance of ClubSciKids engineers.  Daily free swim included.

Robots are an everyday part of our world. Through this class, campers get hands on experience seeing how robots are used in the real world. Campers will become doctors and surgeons to explore the different ways in which a robot could be utilized in the medical field. Next, campers will delve into DaVinci’s Designs and take a unique perspective by applying robotics principles using the LEGO® EV3 platform to the challenges daVinci faced. Lastly, they will head to the athletic training center where they will build and “train” robots to compete in basketball, hockey, tug of war, sprint, and wrestling. 

Young Innovators at KSDS

Located at Krieger Schechter Day School (8100 Stevenson Road, Pikesville)

The Abramoff MakersSpace at Krieger Schechter Day School is a place where your child will engineer, explore, build, and invent while having fun! While in the MakersSpace, campers will follow the steps of the design process as they create their own solutions to authentic problems. The remainder of the day will be spent with J Camps counselors and specialists playing games and exploring the KSDS grounds.

Oh, The Places You’ll Go!
Campers will explore and invent ways to get from here to there, whether that’s on Mars, straight up a mountain, in a futuristic world, across water, or in the past. They will use their imagination along with pulleys, robots, and more as they build prototypes and perfect their machinery.

Session 2: July 15 - July 19
If This, Then That
The third law of Physics teaches us that for every action there is an equal or greater reaction. Campers will explore the concepts of Energy, Force, and Motion to build dams, design and create their own Rube Goldberg machines, and more.

Grades K-2 | Little LEGO Robotics
Campers will spend half their day building with LEGO and then bringing their creations to life by coding them with the WeDo program. Construct a giant that awakens when there is movement nearby! Build a racing car and a jumping rabbit all with LEGO and coded by you! Once they understand basic coding with the WeDo program, they will move on to more advanced coding with Scratch. They will build and code their own hopping frogs and use the program to create a story that goes along with it.  The remainder of the day will be spent with our J Camps staff in other camp activities around the JCC.  Daily free swim included.

Grades 3-6 | LEGO EV3 Robotic Adventures
Campers will spend half their day discovering the fantastic programming possibilities with LEGO® ev3 robots! Using LEGO® ev3 software, campers will learn basic and advanced programming. Start with basic programming to move and steer a robot rover. Campers will then advance to learn loops and how to incorporate touch and ultra-sonic sensors in their programming. Challenges include programming a robot to run the bases on a baseball diamond and using a color sensor to follow a path. The remainder of the day will be spent with our J Camps staff in other camp activities around the JCC.  Daily free swim included.

Campers will spend half their day learning all about the Periodic Table and the elements that make up the world around us. They will create baking soda and vinegar eruptions, mega elephant toothpaste explosions, and more!  The remainder of the day will be spent with our J Camps staff in other camp activities around the JCC.

Grades 3-6 | Funky Physics
Physics is the science of how things move, so your camper will spend half their day studying aerodynamics, movement through water, and even movement on other planets! They will get to build air crafts, bouncy balls, and even their own pinball machine! The remainder of the day will be spent with our J Camps staff in other camp activities around the JCC.

Culinary Camp at KSDS

Session 1: Pastries, Breads, and Desserts
While in the Chef Annie’s Culinary Kitchen, campers will learn how to make Babka, Challah, and other traditional Jewish items under her leadership. They will also explore modifying cookies, brownies, and muffins with different mix-ins, as well as healthy dessert options. The week will culminate in a cookie/cupcake decorating friendly contest. The remainder of the day will be spent with J Camps counselors and specialists doing camp activities and exploring the KSDS grounds.

Session 2: Around the World Cooking
Your camper will spend half their day in Culinary Kitchen creating masterpieces from around the world with Chef Annie. Each day they will explore a different country, learning about its climate, agriculture, cooking styles, and spices to create their most popular dishes. The end of the week will culminate in a “Top-Chef”-style friendly contest. The remainder of the day will be spent with J Camps counselors and specialists doing camp activities and exploring the KSDS grounds.

Grades 1-2 | Big Top Buddies
Your child will spend half their day learning circus skills such as spinning plates, balancing, and juggling objects. Acrobatics, clowning, pie in the face day, and circus-themed projects are included. The remainder of the day will be spent with our J Camps staff in other camp activities around the JCC. Daily free swim included.

Grades 3-6 | Big Top Stars
Stilt Walking! Unicycle Riding! Juggling! Acrobatics! Your child will spend half their day learning these classic circus skills and more from our circus coaches. They also will improve their hand-eye coordination, balance, and self-confidence throughout the week. The remainder of the day will be spent with our J Camps staff in other camp activities around the JCC.  Daily free swim included.
