First Aid / CPR / AED

Youth (Age 6-12), Teens (Age 13-17), Adults (Age 18+)
Learns skills and knowledge to act quickly and confidently in emergency situations with American Red Cross certification classes for Adult/Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, Basic Life Support and Babysitting.

Overview

Our certification courses will equip you with the skills and knowledge to act quickly and confidently in emergency situations.

Are you a parent, teacher or care giving professional looking to get certified (or re-certified) in First Aid/CPR/AED or Basic Life Support? Do you have a duty to respond with basic life support as a public safety professional? Are you a teen wanting to learn basic infant care and first aid to boost your babysitting expertise? We’ve got you covered at the JCC, with ongoing American Red Cross certification classes for Adult/Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, Basic Life Support and Babysitting.

All students must be able to perform the required skills for their particular course without assistance in order to receive certification.

The purpose of the BLS course is to ensure that individuals with a duty to respond (public safety professionals and healthcare providers) have the requisite knowledge and skills to care for patients who are experiencing respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest, or airway obstruction. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certificate valid for 2 years issued upon successful completion.

Participants are taught how to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age – adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). An American Red Cross certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED is awarded upon successful completion, valid for two years. All blended learning classes require an on-line portion to be successfully completed before attending class. Download our fact sheet.

Grades 6-8, ages 11-15. Receive American Red Cross instruction in basic infant care, first aid for burns, bleeding, choking, head injuries and stings; poison prevention and treatment and safety precautions. Includes opportunity to earn certification in Pediatric First Aid & CPR. Certificates are provided by the American Red Cross. 2 full days.
