Fitness, Sports & Aquatics

The occupation of lifeguard encompasses the duties of rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning, the monitoring of activities at a swimming pool to prevent accidents, the teaching of water safety through the communication of rules and policies, and providing assistance to patrons. Lifeguards may also help to maintain order and cleanliness in the pool and pool areas, give instructions to swimmers, conduct or officiate at swimming meets, and administer first aid. Additional ancillary lifeguard duties may include checking in and out such items as towels, rings, watches and apparel to lost and found. Lifeguards must be able to use a ladder to access and descend from the lifeguard chair; use hand tools to clean the pool and pool area; and test and record water quality for temperature and/or pH levels, using all of the tools of the testing process including adding chemicals to the test water sample.

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Fitness, personal trainers will be primarily responsible for taking on existing clients based on need, as well as soliciting new business and teaching JCC members about the benefits of personal training in an effort to grow our personal training business. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Operations, the Park Heights Aquatics Supervisor is primarily responsible for the administration and management of the aquatics program at the Weinberg Park Heights JCC. Member & Guest Services

The Assistant Director of Member and Guest Services at the Weinberg Park Heights JCC plays a key role in cultivating relationships with prospects, members, and influential groups in the community to drive membership growth. This position is responsible for providing information and guidance to both prospective and existing members regarding JCC facilities and programs that align with their individual needs. This position must be responsive to both current and prospective members maintaining the highest level of customer service at the Weinberg Park Heights JCC.

J Play is a program of the JCC with a division offering babysitting services to members and guests, offering piece-of-mind while they work out or attend programming at the J, knowing their children will be safe, nurtured and entertained in our fully-equipped babysitting room. These services are offered for up to 2 hours per visit.

The Babysitters are responsible for the care, supervision and feeding of children ages three months to five years of age. Engaging play supplies (including but not limited to books, “real life” toy sets, and arts & crafts) are provided by the JCC.

Early Childhood – Preschool

As a Lead Teacher you will use your knowledge of child development, curriculum, Judaism, and/or the community to help your colleagues in their development. Lead Teachers are responsible for monitoring the development and learning of the children, and for communicating this information to parents and Director. The Administrative Assistant supports the Operations and Administrative Coordinator in maintaining and efficiently running the school office at the JCC’s Stoler Early Learning Center.  In this role, the Administrative Assistant supports the school leadership team and educators in daily needs and attends to the clerical and administrative needs of the program.

J Camps

J Camps, located at the JCC of Greater Baltimore, is looking for energetic, dedicated staff members who are interested in working in a fun, creative camp environment this summer. Our programming has a variety of focuses including aquatics, arts & culture, athletics, nature, science and more with a foundation of Judaism. In addition, our training includes child development workshops, skill sharing, and certification in Basic Water Safety and CPR. We hire on a rolling basis.

Our main summer season is June 24 – August 16, 2024, and we offer excellent camper discounts for summer staff.  While most of our positions are full-time, we do have a few that run for only select weeks.

Arts & Culture

The Front of House Staff is responsible overseeing all public areas of the Gordon Theater including managing the flow of patrons in and out of the Gordon Theater, operating the concessions, and/or working in the box office. This position will oversee all volunteer ushers, assuring an exceptional experience for all patrons. The Front of House Staff is the first level of supervision for the ushers in front of house theater operations.

During the school year, the JCC offers an array of classes in dance and theatre, ranging in ages from 3 to 15 on the Rosenbloom Owings Mills Campus. These classes include, but are not limited to, production-based programs such as our current musicals, improv acting, devised theatre, tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and more.

Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Arts Education, the ideal candidate is enthusiastic and has an appreciation for the performing arts, is prepared to be a role model, loves working with children, and has a can-do demeanor. Based on availability, performing arts assistants attend theatre and/or dance classes that require extra support.

Prior experience working with children and within dance or theatre is preferred but not required. PA’s preferably have after-school weekday and/or Sunday availability.

The Senior Accountant, under the guidance of the Senior Director of Finance, is responsible for accounting functions, financial reporting, and analysis for assigned programs. This role includes performing routine monthly journal entries, managing special assignments related to transactional accounting, and the preparation and communication of reports and analyses including, but not limited to management of revenue, expense and balance sheet accounts; production of month end reports and variance analyses; budgeting and forecasting; review and evaluation of internal controls; and preparation of audit materials.
