Dani Frye

What year did you start at the J?
2016

What do you like the most about working at the J?
The community and impact! Making a difference in the lives of our educators, our students, and their families everyday!

What was your prior work experience?
I was a special educator at a private school through the Hearing and Speech Agency of Baltimore County for children with communication and related disorders for 6 years. I taught in Baltimore County Public Schools for two years in a Kindergarten Communication and Learning Support program and began at the J during that time as the Director of Noah’s Ark Camp. During the last week of camp I had a magic moment in the garden on the Natural Playground and realized there was something about this place and I didn’t want to leave. I left the county and remained at the J full time as the camp director, a pre-k teacher, I worked on Family Engagement and Community Outreach and then became the assistant director of the ELC for one year and then the director.

What special skills are you most proud of OR What do you love to do in your free time?
I love to be outdoors with my husband and our dog. We enjoy going to the beach, hiking, and most frequently exploring craft breweries.

What is something interesting about your family (pets included)?
I am the youngest of three children. I was born in Montgomery County, Maryland but raised on Long Island. You can take the girl out of New York but you can’t take the New York out of the girl. I have been with my husband almost 8 years and we have been married twice. The first was in a snowy parking lot and our Rabbi was in their pajamas, the second was a celebration with our friends and family on our first anniversary. We have two rescues, a dog named Cooper Cheese Frye and a cat named Binx (like Hocus Pocus).

Where did you grow up?
Long Island, New York
